About the Curator:
International multi-award recipient and gold-medalist author, Rev. Dr. Janine Myung Ja, Philosophy, is an adoption researcher and rights-based activist in support of adult adoptees searching for families separated by adoption and parents of adoption loss. Janine co-founded Adoption Truth & Transparency Worldwide Network with her twin sister; the group offers peer support for families and individuals separated by adoption. Janine has written and curated 12 books, numerous feature-length screenplays, and documentary scripts on the topic of international adoption. The collection she calls "Rare Adoption Books for Adults" contains research, insights, and investigations into the industry of intercountry and domestic adoption, plus a deep dive and a bird's eye view on what has become a lucrative global industry.
On Preserving Identity, History, and Culture
I’ve discovered throughout my years of investigation into the global adoption community that for generations past, the narratives of victimized families have been demeaned and sometimes demonized; the storyteller even emotionally persecuted. This is unacceptable.
My life purpose has been to:
1. to gather large chunks of data,
2. to develop the research into coherent and digestible bits,
3. to elevate the storyteller (and the story) to be received by a sometimes resistant public.
It pains me to see (uninformed) families being exploited by an industry that professes to “protect” their children but does nothing to inform the mothers and fathers on the aftermath of adoption, which has led to additional burdens and even lifelong suffering.
Adoption Truth and Transparency Worldwide Information Network (ATTWIN) serves as an international alliance on adoption for families against child trafficking to stand together in the effort to protect and inform local and global populations on tactics that target children and abandon the mothers—and fathers.
If you or your organization would like to be part of this alliance or if you would like to assist with the success of the first ever adoption trafficking awareness symposium, send a message to my sister at info@adoptiontruth.org. I am happy to say we are forming a phenomenal educational series for this program that includes the narratives of many vital voices domestically and overseas.
It was great to speak with you and learn of your great presence. I am happy all of us wish for the same end result and I do believe we will accomplish our hope to protect local and global families from the crisis of adoption trafficking.
Until we meet again,
Rev. Dr. Janine Myung Ja, Philosophy
Curator of Adoption History 101 & Adoptionland
